Introduction
A workshop delivered by TVS to upskill partners through join the movement within Hartlepool to highlight and demonstrate impact of the interventions and work they do to improve peoples physical activity levels to address wider social outcomes.
What happened?
As demonstrating impact and story telling is becoming more required and valued throughout the various sectors, it was identified through join the movement groups that the network in Hartlepool would benefit from a training workshop to upskill professionals in collecting and writing up meaningful impact on the work they do. The workshop was facilitated by TVS place based officer and delivered by TVS insight and impact officer and marketing officer and focused on helping partners write a case study and to demonstrate impact through ripple effect mapping to raise awareness of the amazing work partners do in Hartlepool. Following the workshop each partner is asked to submit a case study of the work they do so that we can promote the group/service/ across the town to inspire more people to get involved and could also provide great evidence to support partners in future funding bids.
Who was involved?
13 partners attended the workshop which represented statutory sector, Voluntary & community sector and the health sector.
When?
This was a trial and test workshop, however it was identified during the workshop that this is needed on a more frequent basis and we will look to develop online resources to support partners in the future. It was also identified that further skill development was required from partners to be able to develop podcasts and video content to demonstrate impact.
Why?
As we are highlighting the value and role of physical activity to address wider social outcomes across a number of sectors and influencing strategic priorities to integrate physical activity into their core services it is vital that we develop a bank of impact resources of a varierty of formats that can be shared across networks to showcase the value physical activity can bring. With TVS being a small team, the place based officer being only 15 hours per week and with their being such a broad and diverse range of amazing work being delivered in Hartlepool it is vital that we empower, support and train partners to collect impact themselves. It is also vital that the impact work isnt lost and we utilise join the movement as a powerful vehicle to share and promote case studies of the work that is happening across the town, to not only encourage more people to move more on a community level but to demonstrate the impact of the professionals working across the network and inspire more collaboration that will drive long term system change.
